The response to September 11 is the main cause of the decline of American empire
Of all the big anniversaries, none has been as anticipated as the now ten years from September 11. The date that changed the world. The Day the Earth Stood Still. The moment that all mankind, gaping, saw the collapse of the Twin Towers. There are those who do not remember what was at that very moment.Nothing was so striking, so spectacular and as scary as the image of two Boeing piercing the steel and concrete towers of the World Trade Center in New York.
There, there, the perception that the world would not be the same - as indeed it was not. A decade later, with Osama bin Laden captured and killed by troops of the elite U.S. Army, which is the final balance? Paradoxically, the terrorist won. If your goal was to undermine - and eventually scrap - the American empire, it has been achieved. Not by their merits, but the excessive reaction conducted by the United States.
