Brazil's Amazon - The Amazon is ours!

Brazil's Amazon

During a recent debate at the University in the United States, the former governor of the Federal District and former Minister of Education, Senator
Cristovam Buarque, was asked what he thought of the internationalization of the Amazon.

According to Christopher, was the first time that a debater determined the humanistic point of view as the starting point for your answer:

"In fact, as a Brazilian I would have responded simply against internationalization of the Amazon.
Even if our governments have not given the attention that this treasure, it is ours.

As a humanist, realizing the risk of environmental degradation that threatens the Amazon Region, I could imagine its internationalization, just as for everything else that is important to humankind.
If the Amazon Region, from a humanistic perspective, should be internationalized, internationalize the oil reserves in the world.

Oil is so important to the welfare of humanity as the Amazon Region for our future.
Nevertheless, the owners of oil reserves feel they have the right to increase or decrease oil production and raise its price or not.

Likewise, the financial capital of the wealthy nations should be internationalized.
If the Amazon is a reserve for all human beings, it can not be burned by the will of a landowner or a country.

Burn the Amazon is as serious as the unemployment caused by the arbitrary decisions of world wide speculators. We can not have the financial reserves serve to burn down entire nations according to the whims of speculation.

Before the Amazon, I would like to see the internationalization of all the great museums of the world.

The Louvre should not belong only to France.

Each museum is the guardian of the most beautiful works produced by the human genius.
You can not let this cultural patrimony, like the natural patrimony of the Amazon, be manipulated and destroyed by the whims of an owner or a country.

Not long ago, a Japanese millionaire decided to be buried with him, a picture of a great master.

Prior to that painting should have been internationalized.

During this meeting, the United Nations convened the Millennium Forum, the presidents of several countries had difficulties in attending by constraints on the U.S. border.

So I think New York, as United Nations headquarters, should be internationalized.

At least Manhattan should belong to all humanity.

Like Paris, Venice, Rome, London, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Recife, each city, with its unique beauty, its history, the world should belong to the world.

If the U.S. wants to internationalize the Amazon, the risk of leaving it in the hands of Brazilians, internationalize all the nuclear arsenals of the USA.

Since they have already shown that they are able to use these weapons, causing destruction thousands of times greater than the deplorable burnings done in the forests of Brazil.

In their debates, the current U.S. presidential candidates have defended the idea of internationalizing the world's forest reserves in exchange for debt.

Begin to use this debt to ensure that every child in the world has a chance to eat and go to school.
Internationalize the children treating them, all of them, no matter what country they were born, as patrimony that deserves care worldwide.

Even more so than the Amazon.

When leaders treat the poor children of the world as a patrimony of humanity, they will not work when they should be studying, they die when they should live.

As a humanist I accept to defend the internationalization of the world. But as the world treats me as a Brazilian, I will fight for the Amazon is ours.

Only ours!

Senator Cristovam I very much hope, because when the Americans want to invade them. And no UN, NATO and whoever. They, the U.S. wants to own the world!
